Sustainable Disney Gift Ideas

Sustainable Disney Gift Ideas

Disney Theatre Tickets

There are so many Disney theatre shows to go and see at the moment. “Frozen” the musical, “The Lion King”, “Mary Poppins”, “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” and “Beauty and the Beast” are all available to go and see in 2022. If you don’t like the sound of theatre tickets you could go and see “Disney on Ice”.

Reusable Disney Make-Up Removal Pads

I bought some last year from the independent seller: “The Fun Impossible”, and I’ve reused them many times before. They would be a great gift that’s not too expensive either, the ones that I bought were only £6 and they have Disney princesses on them. There are plenty of available designs on Etsy.

Vintage Disney Clothing

Did you know that there is roughly 100 billion items of clothing that are made every year, when there’s only 7 billion people on the planet. Buying second hand clothing is something that needs to become to norm and what better time than at Christmas. Websites like Vinted and Depop are perfect for finding vintage clothing, but I also recommend “Beyond Retro” which is online, but you can visit in person shopping in Brighton, Bristol and a few in London. There’s also “Handsome Freaks” in Margate and I’m sure there are several other places all over the UK. If you know a great place to get vintage Disney clothing please leave the info in a comment down bellow.

Disney VHS Notebooks

Notebooks are such versatile gifts and to make the gift a little more sustainable, you can get one that’s recycled out of old Disney books, Disney DVD’s and videos.

Just find out what their favourite film is and I’m positive you’ll be able to find a notebook with their favourite film/character on it. “Retro from Scratch” is an online store that makes them, but you can also go onto ETSY and find many sellers that make recycled Disney notebooks.

Similarly you can also purchase repurposed Disney DVD and video’s into clocks.

Disney Plus

You could gift a year’s subscription to Disney Plus. This is rather expensive at £80 but just think how many Disney movie nights you could have together, how many times the recipient could watch their favourite movies again and again. There are lots of films and shows coming to Disney Plus in 2022 like “Pinocchio”, “Peter Pan and Wendy”, “Mandalorian” S3, “Hocus Pocus 2”, “Disenchanted” (Enchanted sequel) and so much more.

Disney Bath Bombs

“Bath Enchanted” creates Disney inspired bath bombs which are all vegan, cruelty free and come in eco-friendly and biodegradable packaging.  I’ve tried these bath bombs and I absolutely love them, they add magic to bath time and are great for a Disney inspired pamper evening. They’re also really affordable. The average bath bomb cost £3.50. One is great as a stocking filler, or you could purchase several and make a hamper.

Disney Pouches

From many online shops, you can purchase Disney pouches. I bought metal straw holder pouch which is Pixar themed and the I bought a reusable knife fork and spoon set pouch which have Disney Princesses on it. These are so handy to have because I can just throw them in my bag whenever I go anywhere and it means I don’t have to use plastic straws or throw away cutlery. There are also reusable sandwich pouches you can get off of Etsy. It’s a fun way to add Disney into your day to day objects.

There is a lot of Disney merchandise out there at the moment and it would be great if we all took a second and thought, is this really the right gift? Is this person going to love and treasure this for the years to come, or are they going to discard it after wearing/using it once?

Gift giving is such a beautiful thing to do, but we all need to do it with the consideration of the effects that it will have.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my list of possible gift ideas that are that little bit more environmentally conscious and sustainable. If you have any ideas, please leave them linked bellow and come back next week for another Disney blog.

Disney Car Tour

Disney Car Tour

Disney is one of my major hobbies, I like going to the parks, watching the films, reading books about Walt Disney and so on, so I like to reflect my hobbies within my surroundings and one of my surroundings is my car!

I don’t drive it often because I’ve started walking to and from work but I still use it on and when I do I like to see all of the Disneyness inside.

To start off, on the front two seats, the driver’s seat and the passenger’s seat I have ironed on Minnie and Mickey patches onto my blue and black car seat covers that I got from Argos. The patches I got from Etsy. They were £7 for the two.

car

If you look under the passenger seat you’ll find this vintage Disney tin which is where I keep a selection of sweets, normally hard boiled which keep for a long time and are great for long car journeys! This is something my grandfather liked to do in his car so I wanted to do it too. I got the tin from Etsy, this was a little expensive as it cost me £20 but it’s vintage and it’s perfect for the job.

car 5

Moving to the backseats of the car and you can see that I’ve covered them in Disney and Pixar patches! I got these too from Etsy from all different sellers and I just ironed them on. I think they look amazing!

Also on the back seat are these Minnie and Mickey cushions which I received for secret Santa two years ago! They’ve never been used because no one ever sits in the back but I think they look cute.

car 1

Moving now to the boot of the car. This is where I keep my car organiser and first aid kit. My organiser I got from Halford’s for around £10 and as you can see I’ve decorated it with Disney pins! In this organiser you will find a spare knife, fork, spoon and reusable straw. You’ll also find 3 spare foldaway bags. There’s a “Beauty and the Beast” themed one I got from Primark as a birthday present several years ago, a “Toy Story” one and this “Winnie the Pooh” one.

car 2

Also in this organiser are these two Disney pouches which were both gifts from Primark. One of them holds a spare phone charger. My phone holds my music, my maps, my ability to communicate with other people, my music and so much more, I’m not addicted to my phone but I also realise how much of a pain it would be not to have one! The other pouch holds my tissues, hand sanitizer and my plasters, which are of course Frozen themed.

car 4

Finally the car itself! So in the back window I have this Minnie Mouse decal which is really cute! I got this for Christmas a few years back. On my antenna I have this Winnie the Pooh bobble! It’s not my favourite but I couldn’t find a great selection online. I got this one from Amazon.

car 7

car 6

Lastly my three keys on my key chain have Mike Wazowski, Sully and Minnie Mouse on them so I can identify really easily which one I need. Once again I got these from Etsy and they cost me £2 each.

I also have a figurine of Honey Lemon from “Big Hero 6” which was a Christmas present.

car 8

That’s everything Disney in my car! I really like how it’s turned out! I didn’t just buy all of this stuff at once, I’ve accumulated over the years. There are still things I’d like for car but nothing that’s urgent.

Let me know what your favourite thing you have in your car or if you have a different theme! I’ve seen quite a few people have Harry Potter themed cars which look fun!

Come back on Friday 17th April for another blog.

Disney Haul No 7

Disney Haul No 7

Hello, and welcome back to my blog, I am doing yet another Disney haul because I love Disney and there is such good merchandise out there at the moment and I can’t say no. There are some items from Etsy, Primark, Shop Disney and my local charity shop.

All items were bought by me with my own money.

Etsy

If you don’t know what Etsy is it is an online shop where sellers sell handmade and vintage items. If you haven’t already you should really check the site out, they have some wonderful items on there.

Disney Scrunchies

From the seller FantasylandofEars I bought these two Disney scrunchies for £4.20 each. I bought the Beauty and the Beast Scrunchie first and it was such good quality and I loved it so much that I bought the second one. They are really good value for money and I appreciate them more because they are made by hand.

Disney Tin

I bought this Disney tin because my grandfather used to keep sweets in a tin under the passenger seat of his car and this is a tradition I would like to continue. It’s a vintage tin that I believe came from Denmark. I love the characters on it and that it’s so colourful. It’s the perfect tin. It cost me £20.95.

Primark

Stitch Storage Zip Up Bag

I do a lot of crafting and currently where I keep all my craft supplies is a mess so to help keep some of my bits and bobs organised I bought this Stitch themed zip up bag/box which has been really useful. It’s a really good size and I don’t own much Stitch merch.

It cost roughly £5.

Disney Store

From Shop Disney I bought this Mickey Spirit Jersey for £50 which I know is a lot of money, however I have already worn it so much that it was completely worth buying. You can really feel that this is a jumper that’s going to stand the test of time. It’s the perfect Disney fashion item.

Gusteau’s pot

I resisted buying this for so long and then when I went into my local Disney Shop I noticed that they had one left. I asked the staff how long it would continue to be available for and they said that when they run out they wouldn’t be restocked so I knew it was time to go for it. It now sits pride of place on my work surface holding all of my tea bags.

This item cost £14

Charity Shop

Walt Disney World Mug

So I was just having a quick look through my local charity shop and I came across this Walt Disney Word Mug for £3 which I know that in WDW in store would be around $15 so it was a steal getting it for the price I did.

The design is of WDW main street with Cinderella and Prince Charming and lots of the main Disney characters like Mickey, Donald, Huey, Dewey and Lewey and more.

I will be using it as a small vase rather than a mug but either way it will sit pride of place on my windowsill.

That’s everything I bought recently. Let me know what your most favourite item was and if you’ve bought anything Disney you’re loving in the comments bellow.

Massive Harry Potter Haul

Massive Harry Potter Haul

Recently I visited London, mainly to go and see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child but also to do some of the Harry Potter themed events in London and I bought a couple of things for the trip and while on the trip so I thought I would share them with you. (All of these items were bought with my own money).

Mina Lima Shop:
Advanced Potion Making Notebook – £13
The Mina Lima shop is shop created by Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima. They worked on the Harry Potter films and now the Fantastic Beast films and there shop is full of some of the items that they helped design.

In their shop there are so many amazing notebooks that I could have choose, I especially loved the defence against the dark arts one, but because of how important the Advanced Potion Making book is in the film I couldn’t say no. I especially love the silver detailing on the edge of the pages. I came on this trip knowing that I needed a notebook and this one was perfect.

If you ever get a chance to go to Mina Lima Shop I recommend having a nosey, they really have some wonderful pieces.

Platform 9 3/4 Shop:
Luna Lovegood Necklace – £12

I have never seen this necklace sold anywhere before and so I wasn’t budgeting on buying it but when I saw it I knew it was coming home with me. It’s definitely not a necklace that screams Harry Potter but for those who know the fandom well enough, will know what it represents – Luna’s glasses. It was a bit expensive at £12 but it feels very good quality and I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of it over the years.

Harry Potter Scrunchie – £3.95

I purchased some Harry Potter themed hair scrunchies on Etsy but when they arrived they were so badly sewn I had to send them back. When I saw they had some hair scrunchies available in all the different house colours it wasn’t a question of do I get one, it was a question of how many do I get. Luckily I resisted and only got one, the Gryffindor coloured hair band, however I have to say I regret not getting Slytherin.

Hogwarts Jumper – £32

I fell in love with this jumper when I saw it! I love the design, not too in your face Harry Potter and perfect for Tim my friend to wear as it was getting very chilly and he hadn’t brought a jacket. What made me want to buy this was the fact that it’s a Platform 9 3/4 exclusive, you can’t buy it anywhere else so I knew it was now or never.
I already know that this is the jumper I’m going to be wearing next time I go to the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio tour.

Cursed child:
Two Theatre Booklets – £5 & £12
I really wanted to get these books because they are the perfect memento of the trip! I collect all the books of theatre trips I’ve been to and they are nice to look through every now and again, so although they’re quite expensive for what they are I am happy to have them for years to come. The £5 booklet shows who performed what part and the £12 book shows pictures from the actual play.

Soundtrack – £12
The Soundtrack was created by talented musician Imogen Heap. There are 42 songs to listen to, all instrumental and are in the same order as you hear them in the play. They’re not songs you sing-along to but they are nice to have playing in the background. Personally for me, listening to the CD helps to remind me of magical moments in the play.

My favourite songs are “Platform 9 3/4” and “In Trouble (Again)”.

Etsy Haul:

Before I went on this London trip I treated myself to a few purchases all from Etsy and I am so happy with all my pieces I wanted to share what I bought on here.

Snitch Earrings – £6.65

From the seller Ip dip doo I purchased these snitch earrings which are so simple and yet so beautiful. They were really nice to wear, they’re very subtle Harry potter and I’m really happy I bought them.

Platform 9 3/4 Earrings – £7.50

From the seller Bobby’s Unique Boutique I purchased these silver plated 9 3/4 earrings which I have fallen in love with. 9 3/4 is so iconic but only by those in the know and I was able to wear them when I visited the shop platform 9 3/4.

Marauders Map Head Band – £8.30

From the seller Astra Designs UK I purchased this marauders map headband which you can use as a head band. I was inspired by Harry Potter vlogger Cherry Wallis and all of her amazing hair accessories that I purchased this item and I’m so glad I did. I don’t own anything like this and I really enjoyed wearing it for this special occasion.

Primark:

Hogwarts Backpack – £12

I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking around London and so a backpack to fit all of my necessities was needed. I headed to my local Primark and I found this bag which was exactly what I wanted. I didn’t want a house (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Ravenclaw) backpack because I knew I was going to wear Harry Potter house outfits and I didn’t want them to clash so I knew a neutral backpack was the way forward.

There is one big pocket where I had ample room for my phone, purse, kindle, tickets and miscellaneous items, there was also a zipped pocket at the back of the main pocket and a pocket at the front. I found I had plenty of space for everything and it was very comfortable to wear.

From Primark I also bought these Harry Potter themed tops that were all around £6 and were very comfortable to wear.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I bought, come back on Monday 15th for a new surprise blog.

Primark and Etsy Haul

Primark and Etsy Haul

Primark has some really amazing things in there shop and every time I go in to the store I can spend ages looking at the merchandise they have so I thought I would show you some of the things I have purchased. (This blog will not contain any Disney purchases.)

Primark

harry potter letter socks

There are some really great socks available at Primark, these letter socks are my absolute favourite, they are really soft and they are patterned all the way around.

chocolate frogs and bertie bots

I also purchased these chocolate frog and Bertie Botts socks, they too are so soft and a perfect fit for ankle socks.

I love the design, it is very subtle Harry Potter, they’re definitely not too in your face and I love them.

rugrats jumper.JPG44

Back in early February I went to London and I tried to go to the Nickelodeon store which is where I bought this Rugrats jumper so I was very sad to find that it had closed down, so when I went into the London Primark store and I saw that there was a Nickelodeon range which made me very happy.

As you can see I picked up this amazing Anjelica make up bag. I personally am not using it for make-up as I already have a makeup bag so I decided to use it for all of my receipts. The bag is so big it can be used for a variety of things.

I love the quality of this bag, there is a good quality chunky zip and I love the added detail of having a tassel on the zip.

Etsy

If you don’t know what Etsy is, it is an online shop which sells handmade crafts by individual sellers. You can find a lot of really cool, imaginative and unique things on there.

advanced potion making phone case

I needed a new phone case. My previous phone case I got from Etsy was this Advanced Potion Making one which I love but is just becoming a bit too battered and bruised so I opted for this new one.

gameboy phone case

I am so impressed by the quality of this phone casing, the print on the case, the brightness of the colours and the of the excellent stitching.

The case fits my phone perfectly and there a holes for the charging point, ear phones and all other buttons of the phone. I also feel as though my phone is well protected and is unlikely to damage my phone if I drop it.

The seller of this product was: PrintsCharminDesigns and it cost £8.99

I loved this kindle case, from the moment I saw it I knew I had to have it. Similarly with the phone case, this product has been made with such a high level of quality, there is not a stitch out of place. I feel as though my kindle is well protected and it is east to hold to be able to read it.

I love all the added details which personalise it, for example I have my name on the address which is optional and then on the inside of the case there is my name again on the signing out registry of the book along with other names from the Harry Potter series which the creator has written with different handwriting for each. I love it.

Also when I received the item it was wrapped really neatly in yellow tissue paper and the seller was really quick to respond to my purchase, checking with what specifications I needed and sending me a picture of what it would look like when it would arrive. I appreciate the amazing customer service you receive from Etsy creators.

This item cost £26.14 and it was from the seller Romerobags.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, come back on Monday 28th for a review of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
